Disabling the ActiveX document drop may also prevent a user installing the Outlook plugin from the My CRM -> Preferences screen.

If using Internex Explorer with script error notifications enabled, navigating to the My CRM -> Preferences screen may result in an error being displayed.

The Install CRM Outlook integration button will be missing.

The error is caused by an attempt to set the caption value for the Install CRM Outlook integration button. Since the button HTML is never written out to the interface, an attempt by a script to set the contents on the installplugincaption span causes an error.

The issue has been raised to the development team, and will be resolved in a future patch. The issue can be worked around by navigating to Administration -> E-mail and Documents -> Documents & Reports Configuration and setting Allow ActiveX Document Drop to Yes. This has the side effect of making the Document Drop plugin available to users who are using Internet Explorer.
