Summary:

On the main Opportunity screen, there is a field named Certainty%, defining the likelihood of a given opportunity to close successfully. By default, this is a required field. Should you wish to remove the required attribute from this field, there are a number of steps that must be followed.

Customisation steps:

  1. Go to Administration -> Customisation -> Opportunity. In the Fields list, select Pencil icon next to the the Certainty% field (oppo_certainty). Under the Required column, make sure that the check box in unchecked, and select Continue.
  2. Go to Administration -> Customisation -> Opportunity Progress. Again, select the Field Security icon next to the Certainty% field. Make sure that the Required checkbox is not selected, and click on Continue.
  3. In Administration -> Customisation -> Opportunity History, select the Field Security icon next to the Certainty% field. Again, ensure that the Required checkbox is not selected and select Continue.
  4. Go to Administration -> Customisation -> Opportunity Progress. Select the Screens tab, then Opportunity Status Box (OpportunityStatusBox). On selecting the Certainty% (oppo_certainty) field from the Screen Contents list, you will see a script appear in the CreateScript field. Remove the script from the CreateScript field, then select Update and Save. and delete in the Opportunity Status Box the Opportunity:Certainty% (oppo_certainty) field content.

On selecting an Opportunity record and entering Edit mode, you will now see that the Certainty% field is no longer required.
