Sage CRM allows fields to be defined for the interface that are defined from a wide range of different entry types. The entry types in Sage CRM control the field behaviour, the type of data that may be entered and how the field is rendered as HTML in the browser.

For more details about the different Entry Types see the article "Sage CRM EntryTypes used in the COM ASP API".

Among the entry types available for field definition in Sage CRM, there are many that describe different forms of selection lists that may be used in the interface. These types include

  • Selection
  • User Select
  • Team Select
  • User Multi-select
  • Intelligent Select
  • Multi-select

'Search Select Advanced' fields are not discussed here because there is a whole series of articles dedicated to that entry type. See the article "Almost everything you wanted to know about Search Select Advanced Fields (A round up about lookups)".

Below are links to articles that discuss different aspects of defining, controlling and using these different selection lists.

Changing the Display of Multi Select fields

Comments
  • In SageCRM 7.1, we are running IE9 but are testing with IE10. We noticed that the Intelligent Select that displays a list of matches when typing in a field does not work in IE10 even in compatibility mode.

If you change the document mode in IE10 to "Quirks" instead of the default "Internet 5 Quirks (Page Default)" it works but other things break.

The support matrix notes that IE 10 is supported in compatibility mode only from Sage CRM 7.1g onwards.  If you are working with a version later than Sage CRM 7.1sp2 then you could use Chrome or Firefox as alternative browsers.
