Does anyone know how we can prevent the same email address for a person being used more than once.We only want an email to exist once in the system against a person.
There is a post here by Jerome DHhttps://community.sagecrm.com/partner_community/b/hints_tips_and_tricks/archive/2009/04/29/validating-phone-numbers-and-email-addresses.aspx#
But that tablescript doesn't work.
Thanks in advance.
Any suggestions? We need to prevent our users adding the same email multiple times as this is used as a unique identifier
This can be done via the client side API and an SData call. Drop me an email and I will get one of the team to write it for you.

Thank you for the offer of help Daniel. What is your email address?
Are you still at the same company? I will email you if you are.
I do not believe we have greeted each other before, but yes I have been at the same company for 5 years now
Hi, I must be getting you confused with someone else. I will get some code knocked up for you.
Thank you Daniel
We still find users adding email addresses that exist in other records. Is there any workaround?
would you be able to help understand what you mean by "users adding email addresses that exist in other records" are you referring to the leads or persons or companies database in Sage CRM
Sorry Kannan, I mean CRM users adding new company and persons into the system or within the phone/email tab and adding/modifying an existing contact email address.
We want to only store an email address once in the system, we ideally do not want the same email address against multiple records.
Can I clarify. You want an email address to be used only once in the system? Do you mean that the same email address should not be used against Lead, Person and Company? There is some contradiction here.
Consider. A contact visits the company website and enters their details into a newsletter subscription form. That adds them as a 'Lead' record in Sage CRM. They are then sent an email that causes them make an enquiry about a product. A sales person then promotes that Lead into a company and person record. The contact runs their own business and they only have a 'gmail' address. This means that the same email address is now contained in the Lead, Company and Person records.
Or... do you mean that you want every person record to have a unique email address and you don't mind if this address is then used for Company or Leads?
And by 'ideally' do you mean that you will allow it? Or do you really mean that you must forbid it?
Sorry, we do not use Leads, No two person records should have the same email address and we wan't to forbid it.
The reason I said new company is that you must enter a person at that point, but we are not really too concerned about company emails.
I also believe if you have the same email address against multiple people in a group, this causes problems with the mailchinp integration, so this may be useful for other members in this community. Although this is the not the primary reason for my query.
